Evaluation
ReKnit
We conducted two evaluations which allowed us to refine our design.
Heuristic Evaluation
©️The heuristic evaluation is summarised by Euphemia Wong of Nielsen and Molich's 10 User Interface Design Heuristics.
We conducted this evaluation on our mid-fidelity prototype with all 10 heuristics in mind.
Visibility
User Control
Consistency
Flexibility
Match
Recognition
Minimalism
Error Recovery
Error Prevention
Help
Insights for our high-fidelity prototype:
1. More clarity with 'back' buttons and where they navigate too, as different buttons can take you to the same page.
2. Design could be more minimalistic with an easy access menu as maybe a toggle instead of taking up the whole screen
3. A button for the 'help' feature to be visible on all screens (accessibility)
4. Accessibility elements such as icons / large fonts
5. Sustainability elements - include a WeChat plug-in for storage
Usability Tests
We conducted a usability test on our high-fidelity prototype with two potential users in order to refine our final design
Main Insights
Both users think that it is easy to know the recycling, redesign, and shopping functions of ReKnit by browsing the app interface.
1. Issues with screen size
2. Confusion with which button to press
3. Images moving which causes the user confusion
Our Final Design
After our evaluations we refined our design; here are demonstrations of two of the functions, the redesign, and the recycling bin function.
